Megan Park is busy creating a global lifestyle brand.  Known for her signature brand of boho glamour, her unique prints and embroidery have hit a nerve with the world’s hottest retailers.  As the Megan Park Spring/Summer 12/13 RTW collection gets set to hit stores – there’s also home wares, girls and jewellery lines – Style-Reporter chatted to the designer about her previous life in London, working with artisans in India and how she could never imagine a world without print. Full story features in S, Sun Herald

You launched the collection in London with just scarves and prints?

Yes I’d worked for an agency that created prints for Givenchy, Dries van Noten and Kenzo and I thought I can do that.  I started with scarves and accessories and here we are 18 years later.

Describe the new Spring/Summer collection?

Fresh, Timeless, Feminine and Eclectic.  I love the patchwork story, some prints are inspired by the tiles in the Ottoman era and ancient embroidery stencils have been stitched onto tops and dresses.  The colour palette features watermelon, bougainvillea and citrine teamed with silver, charcoal and neutral.

You regularly travel to India for work?
I have a real love of handiwork and craft and we work with local artisans for our embroidery.  All of our prints are created in-house, though we reference antique textiles and have begun to collaborate with artists.

Name your favourite labels?
Lanvin, Marni and Dries van Noten – I just bought the cutest pair of leather sandals by Dries.

What inspires you?
All things visual not just fashion – especially people doing amazing things.
